With all the talk of war, duct tape and plastic wrap, how do you really protect your family if a disaster occurs? The Red Cross has come out with a brochure that details how you can plan for a disaster. Some important things to remember:
- Create a disaster plan and meet with your family members to discuss it
- Pick 2 meeting places - one near your home and one outside your neighborhood
- Post emergency numbers by every phone
- Learn First Aid and CPR
- Ask an out-of-state friend to be a family contact
- Don't forget to include plans for your pet
- Create a disaster kit which includes water, canned foods, clothing, flashlight, battery powered radio
